Next-gen robotics talent won the trophy

And the winner of the NEURA Robotics Challenge is..

… ETH TUM Zurich! Congratulations!

A stage for Europe’s brightest robotics minds

In the beginning of the year, students from all over Europe applied to participate in the NEURA Robotics Challenge. After a rigorous selection process, six finalists were invited to present their projects during the finals to an expert jury at the KI Palooza event in Esslingen near Stuttgart, where NEURA Robotics was main sponsor. The teams demonstrated remarkable creativity and technical skills by showcasing practical applications in various industries, ranging from healthcare to construction.

The winning project: RAVI by ETH TUM Zurich

The jury was particularly impressed by ETH TUM Zurich and their project RAVI, a robotic assistant designed to support people with visual impairments. By providing guidance and assistance at home, it aims to increase safety, independence, and overall quality of life.

Out of a total prize pool of 150,000 EUR, the winning team took home 45,000 EUR for their outstanding contribution to the field.

The winning team was selected from among five other finalists, each of whom presented outstanding projects:

Furtwangen University (HFU): MAiRA assists surgeons by marking incision lines with AI precision and helping operations become safer and easier.

KU Leuven: “ROBelix” combines MAV and MAiRA to automate complex cable and assembly tasks.

FAU Erlangen: Our humanoid robot, 4NE1, speaks the language of hands, making industry more inclusive and communication barrier-free.

Technical University of Munich: A robotic arm that you can control with your brain, giving people independence one thought at a time.

Creative Robotics (a research unit within the University for Arts and Design Linz): Building the future – adaptive robots reshaping construction with intelligence and flexibility.

Congratulations again to all participants for their incredible work!

Why we created the Challenge

The NEURA Robotics Challenge was launched to spark new ideas and support the next generation of innovators in the rapidly expanding field of robotics. The Challenge aims to bring together top talent from universities across Europe to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation. NEURA provided the joining teams of young, ambitious students with their robot platforms so they could build and test their solutions firsthand. NEURA Robotics does not only want to shape the future of robotics and physical AI ourselves, but also empower those who support NEURA on its journey with their ideas and knowledge.
