Cognitive robotics saves the car industry and becomes Germany’s second economic engine

NEURA CEO David Reger warns against selling out German automotive expertise and wants to make German production competitive again with AI-supported robots. Germany could soon become the global leader in the biggest market of the future: AI-supported (cognitive) robotics.

Metzingen, 06.03.2025 – David Reger, founder and CEO of NEURA Robotics, has a strong vision for Germany as a business location. He says: “Cognitive robotics can make the production of the ailing automotive industry internationally competitive again and become Germany’s new growth engine.

In mid-February, the Swabian entrepreneur presented a corresponding ideas paper to Winfried Kretschmann, the Minister President of Baden-Württemberg. Eight concrete proposals for politicians show how Germany, as an innovation leader and manufacturer, can catapult itself to the international forefront of the rapidly growing robotics sector. The central point is the demand to retain resources and know-how from the automotive sector and to prevent the threat of them being sold off to foreign companies. David Reger is also calling for the use of intelligent robotics for industry and services to be massively promoted in order to make German companies competitive again in the price war with China.

“If Germany makes bold decisions now and turns cognitive robotics into a new economic driver, we can once again shape global markets. Politics and business must work together to flip the switch – today, not tomorrow,” says David Reger. “But to do this, we need to focus on our strengths. Germany runs the risk of losing its decades of automotive expertise to foreign investors who buy our supplier companies – not to build better cars, but because they have unique know-how for the series production of robots for the mass market.”

David Reger, who is committed to the exclusively peaceful use of robotics, also wants to use his plans to ensure that economic hope for Germany is not limited to arms spending, as is currently being decided on a large scale. “For a country with our history, it is enormously important that we prioritize the belief in peaceful technologies and humanity.”

David Reger asked Minister President Kretschmann to pass on his proposals to federal politicians.

NEURA Robotics is an international pioneer in cognitive robotics

NEURA Robotics recently secured Series B funding of 120 million euros, bringing its total capital raised since its foundation in 2019 to around 200 million euros from mainly European investors.

In the region around Metzingen, the company itself is investing a double-digit million euro amount in the development of a robotics ecosystem and the promotion of tech start-ups.
