- One building block: NEURA Robotics and NXAI are jointly developing a memory component for cognitive robots, building on Neuron AI
- Stack meets architecture: NEURA’s Physical AI stack meets xLSTM, the architecture developed by NXAI under Prof. Dr. Sepp Hochreiter
- Acting from experience: Robots will track tasks across many different steps and act on accumulated experience, rather than treating every situation as if it were the first
- Open platform: NXAI model will be available on the Neuraverse platform alongside Neuron AI
- From Europe, for the world: Two European strengths, one goal: Physical AI from Europe, together for the world
Metzingen, 20 October 2026 – NEURA Robotics and NXAI are collaborating on a memory component for cognitive robots. The partnership consists of two parts: The work builds on Neuron AI, NEURA’s multimodal foundation model for Physical AI, which combines 3D vision, touch, audio, robot state and language with a memory function. The partners are integrating NEURA’s Physical AI stack with xLSTM, a recurrent architecture from NXAI that can hold and update state efficiently across long sequences. Also, NXAI plans to make its own xLSTM-based model available on the Neuraverse platform, where it will sit alongside NEURA’s foundation model, Neuron AI.
“A robot that genuinely helps in everyday life and industry must be able to remember,” said David Reger, Founder and CEO of NEURA Robotics. “With Neuron AI, we have the foundation. With the Neuraverse, we are building the platform through which strong AI approaches from others can find their way into robots. With Sepp Hochreiter and NXAI, we are now building out that memory together. Two European strengths, one goal: Physical AI from Europe, together for the world.”
“Memory and experience are what allow robots to solve tasks reliably across many steps,” said Prof. Dr. Sepp Hochreiter, Founder of NXAI. “xLSTM is built for that: fast, memory-efficient and capable of holding state across long sequences. Together with NEURA, we are bringing that strength into Physical AI, from Europe, for the world.”
Why memory is decisive for robots
A robot is not a chatbot. A chatbot processes requests one at a time. A robot operates in a continuous loop of perceiving, deciding and acting – many times per second, potentially for an entire shift. That demands memory on two levels. Working memory handles the immediate: has the component already been inserted? Is the door open or closed? Has the start button been pressed? Episodic memory goes further: a robot that has performed a process repeatedly should be able to draw on prior experience when it encounters the same situation again.
More choice on a shared platform
The planned integration will allow companies to fine-tune the NXAI model for their own tasks using the Neuraverse toolchain, test it in the NEURA Gyms and deploy it on suitable robots – all within the same training and application environment they already use.
Neuron AI remains NEURA’s own multimodal foundation model and will continue to be developed independently. The partnership adds a second model option to the platform and includes joint research. Companies retain control over their process knowledge and decide for themselves whether to share data and skills.
Two disciplines, one shared building block
NEURA contributes the Physical AI stack: proprietary multimoda foundation models, robotics, sensor technology, real-world training data from the NEURA Gyms and the platform for industrial deployment. NXAI brings decades of AI research and a fundamentally different approach to recurrent intelligence and memory. Together, the partners aim to make new capabilities available faster.
The longer-term ambition is for robots to do more than execute individual skills: to build on experience over time. That fits the vision behind Neuraverse and the Robot Skill Economy, skills acquired through real-world interaction, refined and carried across machines and environments.

About NEURA Robotics
NEURA was founded on the conviction that the next great technological revolution will not take place on screens, but in the physical world. As aging societies, labor shortages and the growing demand for skilled work reshape economies worldwide, Physical AI is becoming indispensable to safeguarding productivity, prosperity and quality of life.
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Metzingen, Germany, NEURA Robotics is a global Physical AI company developing the technologies that enable intelligent machines to learn, adapt and work side by side with people in the real world. The company develops cognitive robots that can see, hear, feel and learn, as well as the software, AI and data infrastructure required to deploy them at scale.
A large share of global gross domestic product is generated today through physical work. NEURA’s mission is to make physical work scalable, drastically shortening the time it takes to teach machines new skills and deploy them worldwide. With its cognitive robots, the NEURA Gyms and the Neuraverse, an open ecosystem in which robots continuously learn and share skills, the company is building the foundation for a future in which intelligent machines help to solve some of humanity’s greatest challenges. NEURA Robotics builds Physical AI from Europe, together for the world.
About NXAI
NXAI is an Austrian deep-tech company based in Linz, developing solutions for industrial applications. Its mission is to translate AI research into market-ready products, bridging the gap between research and industry. Its core research focuses on xLSTM models for time series and robotics.
